Crop yields became excessively dependent on the use of chemical fertilizers. In the last 50 years global food production has doubled, while fertilizer consumption has increased more than five fold. Today, farmers are generally applying more chemical fertilizer than necessary to grow their crops due to a reduction in soil fertility, which is now known to be caused by the excessive use of chemical fertilizers.
Biological scientists have been working hard to find a viable alternative to chemical fertilizer and have developed polymicrobial formulations, which are now proven to be capable of significantly reducing the use of chemical fertilizers, or replacing them entirely in some crops. Application of StandUp® enables plants to access atmospheric nitrogen, and unbind phosphorus and potassium in the soil plants cannot otherwise access, helps to increase the organic matter content in the soil that is key for increasing productivity.
Cucumbers (Bulgaria test) increased leaf mass and plant greenness, related to the plants larger photosynthetic area.
Untreated cucumbers produced 26% lower yield and 14 days shorter fruiting period.
Soybeans (Mississippi, US test) treated rows grew larger, fuller, healthier
Untreated soybeans yielded 15% less than treated rows of soybeans
Treated cotton (China text) showed higher height (96 vs. 80 cm) and more lint (39,3% vs. 37,7%) compared to untreated.
Untreated cotton had lower plant height and lower lint content.
